Intellectual Property Rights in Contemporary Times

The one-day workshop on the topic "Intellectual Property Rights in Contemporary Times" was organized on 23rd August 2025, Saturday, under the joint auspices of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Cell at Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya. The workshop was chaired by the principal of the college, Dr. Poonam Mor.
At the beginning of the program, the principal welcomed everyone and shared her thoughts on the relevance of the workshop. The Convenor of IPR, Mrs. Rekha Saini, and the Convenor of IIC, Dr. Priyanka Sahni, mentioned that the main objective of the workshop was to create awareness about intellectual property rights, such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, etc., so that participants could not only protect their creativity but also transform it into business opportunities.
In the first session, Ms. Preksha Jain, Assistant Professor from the Department of Commerce, Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU), Jind, shed light on the fundamental principles of intellectual property and explained how, in today's digital age, these rights have become essential for protecting business and personal identity.
In the second session, Mrs. Meenu, Assistant Professor from the Department of Commerce, CRSU, Jind, also participated. She elaborated on the various types of intellectual property, the registration process, and the economic benefits associated with them. Using examples, she explained how these rights could promote innovation.
The third speaker, Sh. Darshan Dhanda, an Advocate at the District Court, Jind, provided information about the legal provisions related to intellectual property, the legal remedies available in case of infringement, and the judicial processes. He explained how, nowadays, knowledge of these rights has become necessary for startups and entrepreneurs.
At the end of the program, the college principal, Dr. Poonam Mor, who is also the President of IIC, expressed her gratitude to all the experts and participants and congratulated the IIC and IPR members for the successful conduct of the workshop.
