The theme of the workshop was 'Sangeet Shikshan mein Gharana Paddhti'. In his lecture, Pandit Naresh Malhotra discussed the characteristics of the major gharanas of Hindustani classical music and also informed the students about the famous singers who emerged from these gharanas. In the second session of the workshop, he shared his views on vocal training. He explained to the students, with various examples, how to maintain their voice, how to pitch their voice correctly and the proper method of practice. He said that music is a form of yoga and just as breath control is important in yoga practice, it is equally important in music. He emphasized that consistent practice is essential to becoming a good singer. He further demonstrated various vocal exercises (alankars) to the students. At the end of the lecture, Pandit Naresh Malhotra concluded the program by singing a devotional song dedicated to Lord Krishna. The program was presided over by the college principal, Dr. Poonam Mor. She also acknowledged the significance of Pandit Naresh Malhotra's workshop for the students of the music department and thanked the principal speaker, presenting him with a memento.
