A Capacity Building and Mentoring Workshop on the theme “Turn Your Passion into a Profession” was successfully organized on 28 February 2026 at Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya. The programme was conducted under the joint aegis of the NEP Cell and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The objective of the workshop was to strengthen skill development, career awareness, and the spirit of self-reliance among students in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Priyanka Sahni, Assistant Professor of Economics.
The honourable Principal of the College, Dr. Poonam Mor, in her presidential address, remarked that in today’s competitive world, obtaining a degree alone is not sufficient. Students must identify their interests and skills and transform them into professional opportunities. She motivated the students to cultivate innovation, self-confidence, and perseverance. She congratulated the organizers for this meaningful initiative and expressed gratitude to the resource person.
The Resource Person of the workshop was Dr. Rashi Taggar, Assistant Professor, School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Jammu & Kashmir. In her inspiring session, she stated that passion is the first step toward success; however, converting it into a profession requires skills, strategy, patience, and continuous learning. She stressed the importance of communication skills, time management, leadership abilities, networking, and problem-solving skills. She also emphasized that failure is a phase of life’s journey and should be treated as a learning opportunity rather than a setback.
The students participated enthusiastically in the workshop and actively engaged in the interactive question-and-answer session, seeking guidance on career planning and professional development.
She shared the practical examples of Sudha Murty, Smt. Nirmala Sitraman, Nyaka etc. to turn their talent into carrer. She said that students can continue their studies alongwith their profession. The session proved to be highly engaging and motivational.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mrs.Anjali Gupta, Associate Professor of English and NEP Coordinator, expressing gratitude to the Principal, the resource person, faculty members, and all students. She also emphasized that in the present era, it is essential for students to identify their interests and talents and channel them into meaningful professional directions. She highlighted that NEP 2020 encourages holistic development, skill-based education, and an employment-oriented approach.
The workshop turned out to be highly informative and inspiring, providing students with valuable insights and motivation to transform their passion into a successful profession. Seventy students ftom different sttreams participated in this workshpop. IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Geeta Gupta, Dr. Upasana, Mrs. Rekha Saini and Mrs. Anju were also present during the event. Overall, the event marked a significant step toward quality enhancement and skill development at the institution.
